“I To You” is a very spacious, orchestral and personal album. Many of the basic tracks were written and recorded in the fall of 2010 in The South of France. Tawny and her partner/collaborator Gio Loria set up a stripped down studio in the basement (wine cave) of a 400 year old Farm house in the countryside.
Over dubs were done in Los Angeles. The infectious “Tonight I Drink Whiskey” is one of the songs where the basic tracks were done in France. While in Barcelona Tawny spotted a Cajone and a shaker which they used on this recording. They were sitting in the ally way outside of an art gallery, the gallery owner said “take them someone left it behind”. The lap steel was later added as an over dub by Joshua Grange (K.D. Lang, The Dixie Chicks, Dwight Yoakham). Also appearing on the Album Is Scarlet Rivera who is Bob Dylan’s original violin player who played on the Desire album and with the Rolling Thunder review.
